Inverness, Fla.– The City of Inverness is preparing for its ninth installment of its popular St. Patrick’s Festival and Parade in downtown Inverness. Many come for the Celtic rock concert by Seven Nations, and many come for the merriment of the parade, leprechaun crawl and costume contests.
The leprechaun crawl is a self-paced hunt for clues through the downtown with prizes donated by local merchants. To participate in the crawl, visit the City information tent for a free crawl card. Adults and children compete for a trophy for best leprechaun and fairy costume contest, and to enter arrive at the main stage at 7:25 p.m.
Last year’s parade welcomed nearly 80 entries. This year’s parade is proving to be just as popular, and is taking entries through Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. Entrants must decorate their entry, and there is no charge to enter.
The parade starts at 6 p.m. on Apopka Avenue near the Citrus County Tax Office, turns right on Dampier Street, left on Pine Avenue through Courthouse Square to MLK Street. The parade will be judged by the Inverness City Council, and the winner will be declared following the parade. Festival organizers encourage attendees to come downtown early to secure their spot on the along the parade route.
